The document, not the headline verb, is the count. The Western District of Oklahoma release, dated October 14, says that from early September through that day the National Fraud Enforcement Division, the IRS, and IRS Criminal Investigation, with 35 U.S. Attorneys' Offices, took enforcement actions against 76 defendants. Intended loss to taxpayers: approximately $490 million. Attorney General Todd Blanche called every stolen tax dollar a dollar taken from the American people and said the surge is the tip of the iceberg. In the same release, Assistant Attorney General Colin McDonald said the six-week push hit over 70 defendants who sought more than $490 million. We are using the lead count, 76, not an average of the two lines. Fox News reports McDonald did not give a recovery total, because some proceeds are spent before agents can seize them. This work sits under President Trump's Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, chaired by Vice President Vance.

Resources in is a loan, not a ribbon cutting. On October 14, Secretary Brooke Rollins stood at the Monroe County, Georgia, construction site and announced a historic $3.3 billion USDA Rural Utilities Service loan to Oglethorpe Power for the Smarr combined-cycle plant. It is the largest loan in that program's history. Oglethorpe is owned by 38 electric cooperatives serving nearly 5 million Georgians. The turbines are not online. The loan finances the build.
